Friends:

A few weeks before his assassination a journalist asked Gandhi about his legacy.  Gandhi responded, “The people of India will follow me in life, worship me in death, but not make my cause their cause.”

What a blessing to have had Mr. Muhammed Jawaid with us this past Sunday.  His comments, prayer and Forum Leadership gave us clear insights about the troubled Middle East and Muslim and Christian relations.  Our worship and prayer together gave World Interfaith Harmony Week real meaning.

The Crab Feed is happening on Saturday, February 21.  A great occasion and our largest Fundraiser of the year.  Please invite all your friends to join you!

Our Annual Congregational Meeting is this Sunday after worship.  You received a copy of our proposed 2015 Budget this past Sunday.  You will receive a copy of our Council Annual Reports this Sunday.

The Justice Advocacy Committee will meet at Ron and Linda’s home this Saturday, February 7 from Noon – 2:15.  All are invited.  RSVP:  586-9039.

Dennis Frado is the Lutheran World Federation representative to the United Nations. Just this month, he traveled to Israel/Palestine with ELCA Bishop Elizabeth Eaton, to engage with local Christian communities, refugees, peacemakers, government officials and church leaders. Dennis will be speaking in congregations around Los Angeles and the Bay Area this month, and there will be an opportunity to hear him speak at Peace Lutheran) on Monday, February 9th at 7:00 pm. His talk will cover the current situation in Israel/Palestine, the work of the ELCA’s companion church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jordan and the Holy Land (ELCJHL), and ways in which Lutherans and Americans can engage meaningfully for a just and lasting peace in the Holy Land. Please invite friends to join you.

The Women of Peace will meet next Tuesday, February 10 at 1 pm.  Please join us!

Please keep in your prayers:  Jeanie, Annie, Thich Nhat Hanh, Nick, Corrine, Matt, Lisa, Fidel and Heidi, Lars, Fred, Ralph; our friends at the Islamic Center, for a prayerful commitment to “Recover our Right Minds”.

Super Soul Sunday is hosted by the Jazz Church West this Sunday at 5:00 pm with the Glen Pearson Quartet.  Your soul will be moved, soothed and grooved!

Escrip:  You will have the opportunity throughout February to sign up for Escrip which can raise additional funds for Peace.  Details on Sundays.

Ash Wednesday is February 18.  Our service will be at 7:30 pm.

San Damiano will offer Taize Prayer on Wednesdays of Lent from 7:00 – 8:00 pm.  Our own Gary Sponholtz will be playing for these contemplative services.   This begins on February 25 and fellowship and coffee will follow each prayer gathering.

Thanks to all of you who serve on the various Worship Teams of Peace.  You will be happy to know that 3 additional people have now signed up to serve as Counters!  One of the best gifts of Peace is that people respond when needs are made clear!

Epiphany blessings, Pr. Steve
