Healing Prayer

Healing Prayer is offered in multiple ways at Peace. In receiving Healing Prayer, you can share a specific request or ask for a Blessing.

Individual Healing Prayer is sometimes offered during the Eucharist.  Listen for an announcement to receive Healing Prayer in the Gathering Hall during Communion.  You can also receive an anointing of oil, if you wish.  Almond oil is most commonly used.

Healing Prayer is sometimes offered to the entire congregation within the course of Worship.

The Healing Prayer Team is also available to provide individual sessions with people as needed.  To request an individual Healing Prayer session outside of Worship, please speak with Pr Steve.

In our practice, we see healing as Grace Healing.

The Healing Prayer team consists of members who have trained with either Dr. Francis Geddes in “Developing Our Healing Gifts” or with the pastors of Peace.  Within their training, the Healing Prayer Team members take a pledge of confidentiality.  Your concern will not be shared with other members of the Healing Prayer Team.  We pray with you for the mystery of God’s healing energy through healing prayer.

To learn more about Healing Prayer in the life of Peace and other congregations, see the book Contemplative Healing: The Congregation as Healing Community (2011) by Dr. Francis Geddes.

To learn about context, type, and the discernment process of Healing Prayer, see Stretch Out Your Hand: Exploring Healing Prayer (1999) by Tilda Norberg and Robert D. Webber.
