Tai Chi Demonstration Sunday, November 8th

Did you know that Peace Lutheran Church offers a Tai Chi class on Thursdays at 6 PM? Begun by Pastor Steve Harms decades ago, the class continues under the leadership of Matt Rice. Peace members and friends from the community participate in this fee-based class.

Harvard Health identifies Tai Chi as a gentle, low impact mind/body practice with strong evidence for improving physical health, mental well-being and quality of life suitable for all ages and fitness levels. It builds strength and helps one maintain balance.

Teacher Matt Rice continues Pastor Harms’s methods and emphasizes going at one’s own pace and adjusting the level of movement for each person’s comfort zone. Some students have knee, hip or other challenges due to surgeries, etc. Over and over Rice reminds participants to adjust the movement to what works for us without strain or discomfort.

There will be a Tai Chi demonstration on Sunday, November 8, after church at 11:30 AM, in the Gathering Hall. The demonstration will last about ten minutes. Stay and learn about this ancient practice and see if taking part in the Thursday class would be right for you. If you are interested in being part of the Tai Chi class, just show up – date and time is listed in Grace Waves and on the upcoming events list on the website.

Thanks to Elana O for arranging the demonstration!
