I walk out into the marvels of creation –
and all the way God has given us such beautiful lessons.
O Lord, grant me in your mercy, a little more time.
Love for the earth and love for you are having such a long conversation in my heart.
Who knows what will finally happen or what I will understand; yet I have already received and given a great many things away.
Someday I will be told: it is time to leave and to pack nothing,
except my prayers and this thirst for life, that I am slowly learning. —Mary Oliver
Continued thanks to all of you for your condolences, prayers, cards and memorial gifts to Bread for the World on behalf of my father. His Memorial Service last Saturday in Columbus was a rich blessing for our family and friends. My gratitude for your prayers which sustain and lift myself and family who are grieving.
Our sorrow is deepened by the death of Joan Strawn this past Monday. She and Jim were long time members and leaders of Peace. Joan was a gift of wit, wisdom, compassion, commitment and humor. Please keep her family David and Kathy, Carol and Tim in your prayers.
And with sadness I share that Rabbi Dan Goldblatt’s beloved wife, Yael, may her memory be a blessing, died on Sunday in Hospice outside of Boston. She was in treatment at Mass General Hospital for a rare cancer of the spine when she contracted spinal meningitis that ultimately led to her death at age 63. Our hearts go out to Dan and his two sons, Jonathan and Ethan on this profound loss.
Remember, one can only know what one is capable of loving. There is no wisdom without love. —Elif Shafak

Condolences from Muthupei, Mudzunga and friends in Lwamondo Parish have been sent to me and they will come to you in a separate mailing. This is another sign of the gift of our Partnerships with Laurel Galan in Nicaragua and Lwamondo Parish in South Africa. For these friends touch our hearts, deepen our faith, and helped us to mutually grow in our understanding of solidarity in creating a more peaceful and compassionate world community. As Archbishop Romero said, “Peace is a product of justice, but justice is not enough. Love is necessary, the love that makes us feel that we are brothers and sisters is properly what makes for true peace.”
Please keep in your prayers: Jim Foote, the Goldblatt and Strawn families, Lois’ son Brian, Linda Benatar, Irene Heinemeier, Mike on the death of Karen, those who are soon to give birth – Amanda and Kelly.

Love heals. Heals and liberates. I use the word love, not meaning sentimentality, but a condition so strong that it may be that which holds the stars in their heavenly positions and that which causes the blood to flow orderly in our veins. —Maya Angelou
