God Parting the Sky
One day the sun admitted: I am just a shadow;
I wish I could show you the Infinite Incandescence
that has cast my brilliant image!
I wish I could show you,
When you are lonely or in darkness,
the Astonishing Light of your own Being. (Hafiz)
Rich Collins and the family thank all who assisted with the service and reception for Judy. It was a powerful occasion for all of us. Judy will be missed. Keep the family in your prayers.
Homecoming Sunday is this Sunday, September 19th. Sunday School and the Adult Education Hour will begin at 9:00 am. Pr. Anita and the teachers are preparing great learning experiences for your children. Parents and the adults of Peace will have the opportunity to grow wiser during the Education Hour! Deacon Gil Jardine invites you to get in the rhythm of exploring spiritual themes/life questions/the Bible on Sunday mornings. It enriches your understanding, deepens your appreciation of life and the company of good friends will heighten your joy. Topics for the year will be discussed this Sunday and we will decide how Heard the Word can be effectively incorporated. Remember the faith is more caught than taught. Don’t miss out – offer your kids and yourselves the best!
At Homecoming you will also get to hear about a potential Mom’s Group forming and a Middle School Ministry for kids and parents. So many things are in the works for our Fall Season. Most importantly it will just be good for all of us to be together in worship and hospitality again!
A Sunday Salon group is being initiated this Sunday afternoon at Jeanie Locklear’s home at 4:00 pm. This is a chance for members and friends of Peace to reflect on Life Questions that deserve our focus and attention. We may examine Biblical Themes and Writings as well. The group will decide what issues and ideas seem most inviting and/or pressing. The group will meet periodically and you are invited to bring snacks (so the host doesn’t exhaust herself). All are welcomed.
The Lector Workshop charged this ministry team with new insights and energy. Be thankful for these proclaimers of the Word. Keep listening for the truth of who and whose we are.
Thanks to those who contributed to Pakistan Relief through the Hidaya Foundation this past Sunday.
Our St. Francis Animal Blessing and Pet Festival for October 3rd is getting fully organized. If you can contribute gifts or baskets for the Silent Auction that would be appreciated. Be sure to spread the word with your friends. If you can assist Tom Grossman and the Committee in any way that is a very valuable contribution.
Members of the Baha’i Assembly of Danville shared a report with us about the 7 Baha’i Leaders in Iran who have each been sentenced to 20 years in prison. Copies of letters seeking their immediate release will be made available again this next Sunday for additional people to sign. Please keep these friends in your prayers.

September 21 is the Fall Equinox. It is always especially fun to Walk the Labyrinth on these days of the turning of the earth.
“When I despair, I remember that all through history the ways of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they can seem invincible, but in the end they always fall. Remember this…..always.” Mahatma Gandhi
